LIERSKOGEN Grown Plant-dyed Linen Tee

We took the perennial favorite, our undyed organic linen jersey tee, and dyed it with plants grown and harvested right here at our Los Angeles, LIERSKOGEN dye garden, creating this beautiful soft green that compliments peridot vintage jewelry just perfectly.

Growing locally helps us decrease our carbon footprint and support our local economy.  Plus, we reuse the all natural dye water to water our next generation of dye plants and the remnant plant material is composted for the same purpose, in a small, closed loop system. 

Made with GOTS certified organic linen fabric, and organic cotton thread and labels. No harmful chemical whiteners, optical brighteners or industrial fabric softeners.

A small is 25.5" long and 34.5" at the bust unstretched.

The model wearing soft green is 5'2" and wearing a size small. The model wearing dark teal is 5'10" and wearing a size small. 

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, this tee is dyed with locally with organically grown weld leaves and flowers. The dark teal tee is also dyed with GOTS certified organic indigo leaf extract.

Weld is an incredible natural dye plant that was historically used throughout Europe, Asia and was even used by native Americans. It is known for its ability to make the longest lasting natural yellows, and also makes olive greens with small amounts of iron.

Indigo leaf dye has been safely used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline (a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel).

The fabric and sewing thread used in this tee are GOTS certified, which in additional to strict environmental standards, also certifies that every company involved in production provides fair wages and safe working conditions.

This fabric was manufactured into tees in Los Angeles by a small company that likewise provides its workers safe working conditions and fair wages.

This tee is made with GOTS certified organic fabric and sewing thread - the highest standard in organic. Every single step of in the creation of this piece, from the growing of the cotton and linen, to final manufacture, is independently certified to be organic.

After manufacture, the tee was locally dyed with local, organically grown plants. The dark teal tee was also dyed with GOTS certified organic indigo leaf dye. These plant dyes do not produce toxic run-off like conventional (and other organic dyes) and plant dyes remove carbon from the air during the plant's growth, helping reverse the cause of global climate change.

Machine wash on gentle cycle using a mild, pH-neutral detergent and without fabric softeners. To keep natural linen jersey shirts looking their best, hang dry or tumble dry on low until damp and then lay flat to dry.
