Plant-dyed Organic Sewing Thread

As purveyors of slow fashion, we are careful to make sure each piece is 100% natural, down to the thread and we wanted to offer the same to all of the amazing slow fashion sewers out there.  So in collaboration with Fiberactive Organics in North Carolina, we are now offering the first organic cotton sewing thread dyed with natural plant extracts. Nothing synthetic here, just Mother Nature at her best. 

Due to the natural dyeing process, variation in color is natural and part of the beauty of the plant-dyed thread.  Some colors, like indigo, may crock during use, which can be removed by washing with a pH neutral detergent.

This sewing thread a multi-purpose TEX 40 sewing thread made with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton and GOTS certified organic plant dyes. Each bobbin is 200 meters. Sold individually.

The thread is locally dyed in Los Angeles and spun into bobbins in Connecticut.

Unlike conventional cotton thread, our threads are dyed with 100% natural plant dyes. The plant dyes include indigo leaves, madder roots, weld flowers and leaves, myrobalan fruit, walnut, oak galls, and avocado skins.

The organic cotton sewing thread is Sewpure™ by Fiberactive Organics. It is made of organic cotton grown and spun in India. It is GOTS certified spooled on 100% recycled content cardboard tubes.

The plant dyes are from GOTS certified organic plant extracts from plants grown in India. The plant dyes are extracts from the plants using non-chemical, mechanical means to preserve the purity of the natural dyes.

Machine wash on the gentle cycle using a mild, pH neutral detergent and without fabric softeners. Tumble dry on low.
